Call for submissions for the 2025 Open Science 2025 Awards: Research Data and Research Open Source Software

The French Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Committee for Open Science are launching the 2025 edition of the Open Science Prizes, with two separate but complementary calls for entries: the Research data open science prizes and the Research open source software prizes. These prizes are awared to projects that advance the opening, sharing, and promotion of research outputs.

  • Research data open science prizes

Open until noon on 23 June 2025, the aim of this prize is to highlight good practices in the management, sharing and reuse of research data. It recognises both individuals and groups who have implemented innovative strategies around datasets.

There are four categories:

  • Creating a missing data set

  • Creating the right conditions for reuse

  • Promoting transdisciplinarity

  • Special mention from the jury

Each winning project will receive an allocation of €5,000, paid to the affiliated institution.

  • Research open source software prizes

Open until noon on 9 June 2025, the award recognizes open-source software designed for research purposes, whatever the discipline, stage of development or user community. The aim is to highlight projects that contribute to the development of a digital commons.

There are four categories:

  • Scientific and technical

  • Community

  • Documentation

  • Jury's special "Coup de cœur"

The winning software projects will also be awarded an allocation of €5,000, paid to the affiliated institution.
