Publishing in open access
The University libraries encourage measures that facilitate bibliodiversity and the opening up of publications.
As such, we support researchers in their projects to publish in open access journals and assist journals wishing to move towards open science.

The University of Lille encourages researchers to adopt virtuous publication practices.
To this end, in 2022 it created a fund and a structure for managing and monitoring APCs (Article processing charges) paid by the University.
APCs are publication fees charged by publishers to finance the open access dissemination of scientific articles (gold open access). They constitute an economic model, also known as the "author pays" model, used by certain open access journals.
Agreements are currently being negotiated at the national level to encourage publishers to switch to a funding model that allows for pusblishing in open access.
Several agreements have already been reached, to the benefit of university authors.
"Diamond open access" allows scientists to publish in open access, free of charge, in journals or on publication platforms funded by a university, a non-profit organisation, an association...

In the context of the policy to support journals (2020) and the Roadmap for Open Science (2021), and thanks to funding from the French National Fund for Open Science, the PEREN open dissemination platform has been set up, enabling the hosting and dissemination of journals produced or supported by the University of Lille.
