Discover Open science during a new day of training at the University of Lille!

Open science is now an essential pillar of research: data transparency, sharing of results, open access to publications... all practices that are transforming the way scientific knowledge is produced and disseminated.

Are you starting your PhD at the University of Lille? Open science will be an integral part of your research journey. To support you in this transition, the University libraries (Service commun de documentation, or SCD) are organising a new day of training: "First steps in Open science: understanding, discussing, getting involved", on 16 January 2026 at LILLIAD.

Offered in English and French, this day is designed for all first-year doctoral students, with priority given to those from the BSL, SESAM, SJPG and SMRE graduate schools. It aims to give you the keys to understanding the issues of Open science and identifying and applying its benefits in your doctoral career.

The programme will alternate between presentations in an auditorium – exploring the foundations, policies and legal framework of Open science – and opportunities for practical discussions. In particular, you will be able to discover the services, tools and resources offered by the University libraries to support you throughout your PhD.

This initiative is a direct result of discussions with graduate schools regarding the integration of mandatory training in Open science, similar to that which already exists for ethics. Some schools are testing this approach starting this academic year.

📅 Come join us at LILLIAD on 16 January 2026 for a day of discovery, discussion and engagement around Open science!
